Restoring God's House Together
2007-2010
Goal Achieved!
Together we achieved our goal for the Capital Campaign. Thanks to all the faithful members and friends of Trinity who gave to enable this upgrading of our building and to those who shepherded the work.
UPDATE December 31, 2009
By the end of 2009 giving toward the Capital Campaign had reached $76,565. We expect to reach our goal of $80,000 by the end of March.
UPDATE November 30, 2009Capital Campaign donations thus far are $73,057.70 with $7305.77 designated for Mission. That is very close to our $80,000 goal. The campaign will officially end at the end of March 2010 which is three years from the kick-off. There are still projects we would like to complete. Let's try to make it all the way to the goal by then!
UPDATE October, 2009
Those who move in an out of the building in the crowd of folks before and after church may not have noticed that the decorating of the narthex is completed. There are two small seating areas with chairs and rugs. Then there are two round tables with four chairs each in the large square area near the railing to the stairway down. A lovely banner is displayed on the west wall of the narthex. A floral arrangement is on a table in the northeast corner and some artificial plants complete the decorations. Those who helped plan and execute this renovation hope that it is welcoming and appealing to all those who come through our doors. Please help it remain attractive to visitors by not moving furniture to other areas.
If you haven’t looked up from the back parking lot to the stained glass window, be sure to do that the next time you have a chance. There are new Lexan panels covering the glass. Lexan is longer lasting and more resistant to discoloration than the Plexiglass that was there previously. In addition, the window sill was scraped and painted to preserve the integrity of the window. It gives the window a clear and shiny new appearance.
Giving to the Capital Campaign is moving forward well. Capital donations since our campaign started total $70,030.27 of which 10% ($7030.27) has been set aside for a special mission project. Thanks to all of you who have given so generously. We are near our goal of $80,000. The three years of the campaign extend until the end of March, 2010.
UPDATE Summer, 2009
Over the summer you may have noticed the light paint and the new furniture in the narthex. The decorating of that area is not yet completed, but folks are already enjoying the new seating areas and admiring the appearance of the purple chairs near the stained glass window of irises.
Moving of the library to the new area in front of the windows in the upper hallway was completed. The folding doors from that space are being removed to make it easier to access books. The special paint job really sets off the library nicely.
A contractor has been arranged to put a new Lexan cover over the south stained glass window in the sanctuary. Some fix-up of the window sill must preceed the installation of the new cover.
Capital campaign contributions to date total $69,132.83 (building use portion, $62,219.06; mission portion $6,913.77). Our total goal was $80,000. We are moving toward that but have to keep praying that we will get there. We know that the economic times have made it difficult for some to keep up their pledges. We encourage those who have not pledged or given to consider what they might contribute. Discussions are ongoing about what we might do with this significant mission gift. Thank you to all who have given so faithfully.
UPDATE December, 2008
Because of the holiday season, no further work has been done on the Capital Campaign projects. By the end of 2008 we are almost 2/3 of the way through our three year giving. Total capital donations through November, 2008 totaled $55,167.72 of the $80,000 needed to meet our plans. Ten percent of that is designated for mission and has been put aside for that purpose. Because some individuals may not be able to meet their pledges due to the economy, we are asking that everyone consider whether they can add a bit more to their Capital Campaign giving to help us reach our goal. Thank you to all who have supported the project.
UPDATE September, 2008
The renovation activies for the church that are funded by the Capital Campaign are moving forward. At the end of August, we have received $52,873 out of the $80,000 pledged. Thank you to all those who have contibuted to the campaign. Those of you now attending Trinity who were not here when we initiated the Capital Campaign may want to consider conbtributing. We know that with the changed economy, some individuals may not be able to complete their entire pledges.
Work is currently moving forward on the following:
1. The kitchenette and cabinets (in hallway) were removed and much work has gone into capping pipes, closing off un-needed electrical outlets and repairing the wall. This will be the location of the Adult Library. The walls need to be painted before we can move bookshelves and books from the narthex to this location.
2. The Children's Library was moved to Room 201 which is the room where the Samaritan Center counselor has his office on some days/evenings. With a nice couch and the two gliders that were formerly in the narthex, it is a nice, cozy place for children and adults to explore and choose books.
3. Efforts are moving forward to choose the new paint, light fixtures, and furniture for the narthex. The plan is to make the area lighter and more inviting. The plan is to have appropriate seating and lighting that allows for better visibility. The painting cannot begin until the library is moved to the hallway.
4. One planned project has had to be dropped - the new windows for the office area. This is due to the fact that the cost of the roof repairs greatly exceeded our plan.
Capital Campaign News
A Capital Campaign for the years 2007-2010 was initiated in January. The capital projects included in the plan were:
-Santuary projector/screen system to enchance worship
-Fluorescent lighting upgrade throughout the building to meet new standards
-Replacing the siding on the south side of the sanctuary, repair broken roof tiles,
and repair the steeple to prevent leaks and further deterioration
-Replacement of the windows on the office level of the central part of the
building to achieve greather energy efficiency and comfort in the offices.
-Upgrading the narthex to create a more welcoming environment with better
lighting, more useful furniture, and an effective arrangement.
-Ten percent for missions
-TOTAL GOAL: $80,000
Goal Achieved!! Members and friends of Trinity have responded well to the needs of the church as expressed in the Capital Campaign for 2007. Almost $76, 000 has been pledged toward our goal of $80,000. We have also raised funds through our Spaghetti Dinner, Rummage Sale, and a few non-pledge gifts. Our total funds pledged and raised met our $80,000 goal. However, we encourage everyone to keep thinking about the Capital Needs. Experience with past capital campaigns has shown that there are always some individuals who are not able to complete their pledges due to changes in their circumstances. In the same way there may be those who might be able to increase a pledge based on improved circumstances. It is our prayer that these will balance out and God will lead each of us in our giving. Additionally we will continue to have small events that will raise money toward these important capital needs.
Capital Campaign Events:
-General pledge drive
-Spaghetti dinner
-Rummage Sale
Work has been completed or in process.
- The lighting change-out to the updated fluorescent fixtures was completed at the beginning of the campaign.
- The new projection system in the sanctuary is in use and has enhanced the worship experience for many.
- The new siding on the back of the church including the entire south and east side of the narthex has been completed and painted. The new small “eyebrow” roofs over the south entrances have attracted many positive comments about the ability to quickly get out of the rain before getting inside. New acrylic panels cover the cross shaped stained glass window in the narthex.
- Small projects such as refinishing the front doors and the back door to the kitchen are just about completed. These weren't part of the original plan but the need became apparent as other things were improved.
- The roof of the sanctuary was repaired. This turned out to be a more costly project than originally estimated. While the roofer had the lift to work on the roof repair, he also pressure washed the sanctuary.
Projects still to come are:
-Windows for the office area,
-Cabinet for the sanctuary computer/sound systems
-Refurbishing/redecorating of the narthex.
-Replacing the old acrylic cover over the large stained glass window in the back of the sanctuary.
Many thanks to the Facilities Team and those they have recruited for specific tasks. People have been working overtime in planning and coordinating all of these projects.
Please continue to keep the Capital Campaign in your prayers. We are not finished with our task yet.
