Introduction
The Scriptures affirm the importance of partnership between the congregation and the home when it comes to the spiritual development of children and youth. Current trends in youth and children’s ministry confirm this as well. Both young people and parents need the support of the church in the development and strengthening of their faith. Additionally, the natural spiritual development of children, from toddler through adolescence, is best supported by a cohesive and integrated program with the oversight of one staff person.
In addition to ministry with young people and families in the congregation, we also recognize the need to reach out to and connect with our neighbors, including the youth and children of the neighborhood and community.
This position description is written with these basic affirmations in mind, and outlines a full-time ministry position of faith formation which provides vision, leadership and coordination for ministries related to the spiritual growth of children, youth and families. The Director of Faith Formation (DFF) will provide direct leadership and/or oversight of children’s programs and youth programs, and will work with the adult spiritual development team to coordinate effective formation and education of significant adult mentors and parents.
Trinity Presbyterian Church invites you to consider joining us in the adventure of faith as we explore new territory both in our own congregation and in the community Christ calls us to serve.
